  • What is Ev-Werx?

    EV-Werx is a membership-based carsharing service providing 24/7 access to vehicles on an hour or daily basis. As a member, you can book a car using the EV-Werx smartphone app available for download on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Search for EVWERX.

  • What are the membership qualifications?

    EV-Werx members must be 21 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license (this includes AB60 license holders) and a valid credit, debit or prepaid card.

  • Do I need a Driver’s License to become a member?

    A valid driver’s license is required for your application process. Valid driver’s licenses are accepted from any of the 50 states in the United States and we also accept AB60 licenses.

  • What is included?

    Insurance, vehicle maintenance and roadside assistance are all included in the hourly and daily rates. In the event of an accident, you are responsible for a $500 deductible. You will be fully responsible for the cost of any third-party claims in the event that EV-Werx’s third-party insurance coverage is invalidated due to your failure to follow procedure.

  • How does the application process work?

    Create a profile by filling out the form with drivers license and payment card information on the EV-Werx app. Approved members will be notified by email or by checking their EV-Werx app within 2-3 business days after you sign up.

  • How does insurance work?

    There are no additional costs for insurance, vehicle maintenance and roadside assistance. In the event of an accident, you will be fully responsible for the cost of any third-party claims in the event that EV-Werx’ third party insurance coverage is invalidated due to your actions or misbehavior. In the event of an accident, you are responsible for a $500 deductible.

  • What is an orientation?

    If your Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is approved you will need to complete a 15-20 minute phone, video or in-person orientation to learn more about what to expect when using an EV-Werx car.

  • Where can I find the member handbook?

    Every EV-Werx member will receive via email a copy of the Member Handbook after they get approved and before their orientation takes place.

  • How do I find the car I booked?

    Each EV-Werx vehicle is parked at a designated “home” space. No other vehicles are allowed in these special tow-away zones, just like taxi stands and bus stops. All of our vehicles and parking stalls will have the EV-Werx logo on them which will allow you to access the vehicle with no problems. You can also open the EV-Werx app and it will show you the license plate information of the vehicle you booked.

  • How do I get the keys for the car I reserved?

    You can unlock your reserved vehicle via your smartphone. You do not need any keys! In the event that you do not have a smartphone to access the vehicle you will be issued a smartcard RFID card that you can scan to access the vehicle that you have reserved.

  • How far can I drive an EV-Werx car?

    There is a cap on how many miles are included per trip and after you reach your limit of 150 miles per trip there will be a charge of .35 cents per mile. Remember that you are driving an electric vehicle and it has a certain range of miles it can go before it needs to be recharged.

  • Can I take an Ev-Werx car out of California?

    No, you cannot take a Ev-Werx out of the state of California.

  • How long can I keep an EV-Werx car?

    If the car is available, you may book it via the Ev-Werx app or website. You can make hourly reservations or a 24-hour reservation.

  • Are passengers covered by your insurance?

    You will be fully responsible for the cost of any third-party claims in the event that EV-Werx’ third party insurance coverage is invalidated due to your actions or misbehavior. In the vent of an accident, you are responsible for a $500 deductible.

  • What kind of vehicles are available?

    We currently have a Chevy Bolts and Nissan Leafs. The Chevy Bolt has a 240-mile range until it will need to be recharged while the Nissan Leafs have 220-mile range and 160-mile ranges.

  • What if I am late bringing the car back?

    If you know that you are going to be late, log on to your EV-Werx app or website to see if you can extend your booking. Always wait for a confirmation page. If someone has the car immediately after you, your extension will not go through, and you should call us at 559-242-6008 to avoid getting a penalty on your account. We will help make arrangements to accommodate your late return for the next member. If you are the member who is waiting, we will contact you as soon as we know your car might be late or switch you to another vehicle if it is available.

  • What if the car I booked is not there?

    This is unusual, but does happen occasionally. Call us immediately at 559-242-6008 and we will help you locate the car, move to another car, or do our best to get you to your destination another way.

  • What if there is a crash?

    Call 911 or the police, just as you would for any car crash or fender bender. Make sure everyone involved is safe or being cared for. Then call us immediately at 559-242-6008  and we will help you. In all cases you must contact us before continuing your trip. (In the majority of cases we will require you to wait and obtain a police report)

  • What if I get stranded?

  • What if the car isn’t operating properly?

  • What if my vehicle doesn't turn on?

  • Can I transport other people in the vehicle?

    As a EV-Werx member you can drive the vehicle with other people in the vehicle. If it is discovered that a non-member has driven a car, a warning will be assessed to the account holder as well as possible termination of membership.

  • Can a non EV-Werx member drive the vehicle that I reserved?

    Only approved EV-Werx members with active reservations can drive the vehicle. If it is discovered that a non-member has driven a vehicle, a warning will be assessed to the account holder as well as possible termination of membership.

  • Can I bring my pet with me?

    EV-Werx only allows service animals in EV-Werx vehicles but members must provide certification of their service animal credentials ahead of their reservation.

  • Can I smoke in the vehicle?

    All EV-Werx vehicles are non-smoking. Evidence of smoking in a vehicle (odor or residue from butts or ashes) will result in an immediate fine to the member.  Repeated violations of this rule will result in termination of your membership.

  • Does this vehicle come with adaptive cruise controls?

    EV-Werx members can request ADA adaptive controls to operate the vehicle. If you require adaptive controls, please call ahead so EV-Werx staff can prepare your vehicle.

  • What about child seats?

    We do not provide child seats and encourage you to use your own child seats should you need any during your trip.

  • What happens if the car is dirty when I arrive to pick up my reservation?

    If the vehicle you reserved is dirty when you pick it up, please report it immediately using our EV-Werx app or by calling us at 559-242-6008. Please include the date and time of your booking along with a description of the mess and any supporting photos.

  • Can I pick up the vehicle in one location and drop it off in another location?

    You must drop off the vehicle at the same location where you picked it up. Failure to do so will result in a fine or termination from the program.

  • What happens when my drivers license expires?

    Your account will be in pending status and you will not be able to use any vehicle. Once you upload a picture of your new driver's license, a new MVR will get processed with your new drivers license.
